Stop Using Tinubu’s Name To Stall Governance, PDP Tells Oyetola

Oyetola

The Peoples Democratic Party‘s (PDP) Osun State branch has advised former Governor Gboyega Oyetola not to use President Bola Tinubu’s name to disturb the state government.

Hon. Sunday Bisi, the party’s state chairman, issued a statement yesterday accusing the former governor of following a failed strategy to make Osun State ungovernable by invoking Mr. President’s name to commit political evil in the state.

He accused Oyetola of activities capable of ruining the state’s peace and stability, as well as undermining the presidential agenda for Osun State, the South West, and Nigeria in general.

The PDP further accused the former governor of taking steps aimed at damaging the state’s peace, misrepresenting presidential intent, deliberately disrupting state-federal relations, or attempting unlawful misuse of federal power against state officials fulfilling their statutory duties.

“Mr. Oyetola has been using the president’s name to corrupt government agencies for his own benefit. The other time, he hijacked the SMEDAN SME initiative to benefit his own group of APC members, leaving out other APC members and giving Mr. President a poor name. He did the same with rice distribution, which he allegedly obtained from NEMA but shared with his faction rather than reaching out to the broader Osun people, as Mr. President obviously preferred in accordance with the law.

“Rather than working to unite his party ahead of 2026, he is attempting to make the state ungovernable by disrupting federal-state collaboration and attempting to use federal agencies such as the FCT DSS to harass state officials.” We learned that Oyetola employed the FCT DSS to threaten the Osun State Governor’s Spokesperson with arrest for carrying out his constitutional duties of projecting and promoting Mr. Governor.

“We warn that such an attempt at arm-twisting is a failed strategy because officials and citizens are entitled to the enforcement of their fundamental human rights as enshrined in the constitution, which also governs human rights and intergovernmental relations among the three levels of government. We are also certain that neither the Presidency nor the DSS’s national headquarters will support the use of sensitive state services to pursue personal political vendettas.

“Mr. Oyetola should put an end to his evil goal against Osun State because he should know that we have the ability to tame him, but only with the state government’s respect for Mr. President. If he does not cease, we will open his records, which we do not want to do because of our respect for the Presidency.

“We urge Mr. President and the entire Presidency to put an end to Mr. Oyetola’s nefarious, vindictive, anti-state, and vengeful activities, which are tarnishing the image of the nation’s Number One Citizen by using the President’s name to pursue vendettas and activities that are directly opposed to the Presidency’s larger agenda.

“The President should summon Mr. Oyetola before plunging Osun into a needless crisis. Osun is a peaceful state, and our governor is providing democratic dividends under the banner of good government. The state-federal relationship is going well, and no sore loser should be permitted to undermine Mr. President’s larger political and wider interests,” the statement ended.
