Coalition Rallies Support as Oke Selects Ondo APC Governorship Forms

Ondo

A political group, the Omoluabi Coalition Group (OCG), has rallied support across the 18 local government areas of Ondo in aid of the governorship aspiration of Chief Olusola Oke in the November 2024 Ondo State gubernatorial election.

Oke has picked his nomination and expression of interest forms to vie for the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the National Secretariat in Abuja.

In Abuja, Oke—who was accompanied by Prince Idowu Ilara, a well-known political figure—stated that the candidate was still an illustrious son of the state and that many of the state’s indigenous people still bear his lasting legacy.

He noted that, as the candidate, Oke is poised to meet the yearnings of the people of the state if given the mandate.

The OCG described Oke as the best candidate for the ruling party to pick in the coming primary election scheduled for April 20, 2024.

The Director-General of the group, Tunji Balogun, made this known during a press conference in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

He said the group pitched its tent with Oke after examining all other APC aspirants, noting that Oke surpasses them in experience as a grassroots politician.

Balogun further said the party should not pick someone out of sympathy or someone who has issues with his certificate.

He warned that the opposition party is waiting for the ruling party to choose wrongly to take advantage of the loopholes to outshine the ruling party during the election.

“This is a discussion basically on the governorship election coming up; all political parties are preparing for the primary; we believe, as Omoluabi (meaning gentlemen), that we are progressives; we believe in the continuation of APC governance; we believe in someone who would continue with the programs of (late Rotimi) Akeredolu,” he said.
