HRWRO wants Governor Sule to prevail on Gamji led Excos

The Human Right Watch and Rescue Operation(HRWRO) Nasarawa State branch have called on Governor Abdullahi Sule to prevail on the crisis rocking the Nasarawa State Traders and Marketers Association, which was highjacked by Alhaji Turaki Gamji who is currently parading himself as the State Chairman of the Association.
The Human Right Watch , in a letter addressed to the governor , which they copied the Department of State Security Services, the Commissioner of Police and commandant Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, appealed to the governor to revisit the matter and authorize the outgone chairman of association to stop any plan of conducting an election pending the determination of a court judgement , for the promotion of peace in the state.
They are also calling on Engineer Abdullahi Sule to stop the plan election by Turaki Gamji camp as they are not standing on constitutional grounds, as going ahead with the election could lead to break down of law and order.
The Human Right Watch letter to the Governor was signed by Comrade Saleh Muhammad, the National Advocate and Coordinator was made available to New National Star in Keffi on Friday.
It would be recalled that in the High Court that sat over the matter had on 28th August 2023 ,passed a judgement restraining the 1st ,2nd and 3rd defendant from from conducting any election in the state in respect of the Nasarawa State Traders and Marketers Association.
The Human Right Watch , in their letter stated that it observed the lingering crisis between the members of the association and that as result of the crisis , the governor had intervene in attempt to see that it was resolved since December 2022 and that the governor also directed the Ministry of Trade and Investment to go and make sure agreement between the members was reached peacefully.
Adding that the governor also directed the State Ministry of Justice to draft a constitution for the association, but that the group under the leadership of Turaki Gamji later denied reaching such agreement before the governor, but went ahead with their selfish interest, making the other group to approach a court to obtained a court order to stop any election at the local government level under Turaki Gamji’s supervision.
Chairman of the Association in keffi , has said his members are law abiding citizens of Nigeria and they will not go against constituted authority, but will follow the due process provided by a competent court.
