Erling Haaland has stated that he is “really happy” at Manchester City, but the striker has left the door open to a potential departure from the Etihad Stadium.
Real Madrid is set to recruit French striker Kylian Mbappé on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, but the club has long admired Norwegian superstar Haaland.
The Premier League champions defeated Madrid to buy Haaland from Borussia Dortmund for £51 million in June 2022, but Real’s interest has remained.
In the build-up to their Champions League clash against Copenhagen, Haaland was asked about the links with Real and whether he felt he had everything he needed at City to stay there in the long run. He said, “I’m really happy, especially with the people that I’m surrounded with—the manager [Pep Guardiola], the directors, the board—they are a group of amazing people, and I’m really happy, I have to say.”
“If I say this now, it will probably be a big headline tomorrow; you never know what the future holds, but I’m glad. You can write this, but you must also write everything I’ve stated previously. “I’m pleased.”

Haaland signed a contract with City until 2027, and the club is eager to extend his contract following a fantastic 18 months in which he scored 80 goals in 84 games and won the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup.
According to reports in Spain, despite his success on the field, Haaland has grown dissatisfied with life in Manchester, but the Norwegian has used the chance to dismiss the rumors.
“Life is enjoyable for me. I adore spending time with my best friends,” Haaland said. “I don’t know what else to say.”
Haaland still has more than three years on his deal, but City would like to extend it for at least another season.
He will be 27 when his contract expires, and he has stated that he is only concerned about the second half of the season with City, not negotiations to prolong his stay.
“My focus is mainly now on the pitch,” he told reporters.
“There are lots of games. The Manchester derby was two days ago, and now it’s the Champions League, and I think I should focus on Liverpool on Sunday. I don’t think I should focus on anything else right now.”
