Focus On Addressing Rivers APC Crisis, Not Fubara, Youth Leaders Tell Okocha

Youth Leaders

The Rivers State Ethnic Youth Leaders Coalition (RSEYLC) has urged Chief Tony Okocha, the caretaker committee chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, to focus his efforts on resolving internal squabbles within the opposition party and leave Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration alone.

The RSEYLC, a group of indigenous ethnic young leaders, made the request in a statement issued on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The statement, issued by the group’s chairman, Dr. Legborsi Yamaabana, stated that the youth leaders will not accept any tarnishing of Fubara’s excellent record of service and devotion to the Rivers people.

“The Rivers State Ethnic Youth Leaders Coalition (RSEYLC), an amalgamation of indigenous ethnic youth leaders, condemns the recent vitriolic campaign of calumny launched by Mr. Tony Okocha, the embattled Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, against the Executive Governor of Rivers State.”

“In the face of Mr. Okocha’s irresponsible and false diatribes, we state emphatically that the Rivers State Youth Leaders Coalition will not condone the tarnishing of Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s excellent record of service and devotion to the Rivers people.

“His relentless efforts to fulfill campaign promises and advocate for Rivers State’s prosperity deserve recognition, not unjustified insults motivated by political expediency. Mr. Okocha, acting as a tool in the hands of political puppeteers, is clearly attempting to sow seeds of division and derail Rivers State’s governance agenda.

“We urge Mr. Okocha to hear this harsh warning and redirect his attention to the internal difficulties affecting the Rivers State APC rather than launch a pointless and misguided campaign against a democratically elected governor.

“In addition, we caution all stakeholders not to underestimate Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s commitment.” His commitment to peace and stability must not be misconstrued as weakness.

“Any attempt to disrupt the harmony and progress of our state will be met with fierce resistance from the Rivers Youth Leaders and the entire populace.”
