AA Chairman Petitioned INEC Over Alleged Plot To Undermine Party Leadership

Chairman

Kenneth Udeze, the national chairman of the Action Alliance (AA) party, has filed a petition with Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), regarding an alleged scheme by some high-ranking INEC officials to destabilize the party’s leadership.

In the appeal dated March 25th, Udeze particularly requested the retirement of some INEC personnel in Abuja who are collaborating with certain forces to spark a new leadership crisis in the party.

This is despite a January 26th Court of Appeal decision confirming Udeze as the legitimate national chairman of AA.

Udeze alleged that INEC workers are working tirelessly to convince the commission and the Federal High Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, to recognize a bogus AA National Convention held on October 7, 2023.

He claimed that this action directly violates the Court of Appeal’s orders that resolved the party’s leadership crisis.

The national chairman accused the staff of intentionally distorting facts about ongoing suits (FHC/AB/CS/12/2024) in Abeokuta and another (FHC/KB/CS/12/2024) in Kebbi.

Udeze contends that the staff’s activities are intended to undermine the Court of Appeal’s endorsement of his leadership and the party’s March 14, 2021, National Convention, during which he was re-elected.

Udeze presented proof of court decisions, consent agreements, and INEC records that clearly identify him as the genuine AA national chairman.

He expressed alarm about the reported attempts by INEC staff to obtain inconsistent decisions, which could plunge the party into further chaos.

The AA chairman requested that INEC investigate the claims and take disciplinary action, including possible suspension, redeployment, or retirement of the involved officials.

He emphasized the importance of having an independent and fair election body that adheres to the rule of law and moral standards.
