Hugo Broos, South Africa’s coach, has revealed that the Bafana Bafana are unafraid of the Super Eagles and other African sides ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches.
Bafana Bafana will play as guests of Nigeria’s Super Eagles on June 3 before hosting Zimbabwe the following week.
With two matches completed, the Broos-led side is second on the log, trailing leaders Rwanda by one point, while their June opponents, Nigeria and Zimbabwe, are third and fifth, respectively, with two points.

In an interview with Sunday World following the team’s remarkable 3-3 draw against Algeria in a friendly game, Broos stated that his objective is to qualify South Africa for the 2026 World Cup and that no side can stop him.
“We played against a very strong team, but I do not think there was much difference between the quality of our game and the quality of the game in Algeria,” Broos remarked in an interview with Sunday World.
“That suggests we’ve made progress in the past few months. We demonstrated that at the AFCON, and we proved it again against Algeria. So, I don’t think we should be afraid to play against any African team.”
