On Sunday, some worshippers escaped death when an improvised explosive device (IED) intended to assault them detonated on a male suicide bomber on his way to carry out the suicidal plan.
The Borno State Police Command confirmed the event in a statement on Monday, stating that the attempted suicide bombing took place in Biu Local Government Area.
In addition to the attacker, two bystanders were hurt during the botched suicide attack.
On Monday, the command’s public relations officer, ASP Daso Nahum, confirmed the event to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Nahum stated that the incident occurred at 8 p.m. on Sunday, while Muslim believers were observing night prayers.
“Two passersby who were injured by the explosive were immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment,” a police spokesman stated.
Responding to the event, Nahum stated that security forces were quickly rushed to the location to restore order.
He stressed the significance of increased vigilance, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, when late-night prayers are common in Muslim communities.
He asked the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement as soon as possible.
