Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reiterated his commitment and resolve to create a wealthy state with development distributed evenly across the 23 local government areas. Fubara revealed this yesterday while speaking at the Community School Field in Eberi, the headquarters of the state’s Omuma LGA, during a Thanksgiving service organized by a political pressure group, the Simplified Movement, to commemorate his Supreme Court victory and victory in the 2023 governorship election. The governor, who was represented by a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Awaji-Inombek Abiante, emphasized his willingness to transform the fortunes of the Omuma people, and indeed all Rivers people, as solid foundations are being laid.
He stated, “We have heard you speak about poverty, and we want to assure you that in overcoming poverty, you need to be strategic and deliberate. Foundations have to be laid, and it is that foundation the government is laying beginning in December 2023.” The foundations of a fair salary are the foundations of justice for those who have served. That is why we have made it clear that if you qualify for promotion, you must be promoted. The governor emphasized that his administration is based on justice, fairness, and equity for all, and hence there is no discrimination in worker promotion across the board, both in the state and local government civil service systems.

Fubara stated, “It is the establishment of justice that has also resulted in the declaration of the commencement of payment of N30,000 as the minimum wage to workers in our LGA service system.” The groundwork has been laid to overcome poverty. The N30,000 minimum salary was implemented in 2019, but the previous administration ignored it. However, as a true administrator with human sentiments, we have delegated its implementation to the local government level.” He insisted that the current administration stay accountable and answer to the people’s yearnings while delivering the rewards of democracy with unwavering determination.
As a demonstration of seriousness and commitment to the construction of the foundations that would guarantee equitable growth for all, the governor announced the speedy completion of the Umuakali-Eberi road. He stated, “In the coming weeks, we have been assured that every obstacle and everything that has been slowing down the completion of that major road from Umuakali to Eberi will be removed, and that project will be completed in record time.” Fubara said that the state government will also commence on other vital road projects and infrastructure projects with a significant impact on Omuma LGA.
In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Evans Bapakaye Bipi, leader of the Simplified Movement in Rivers State, expressed fulfillment with the governor’s performance, citing the organic state-wide support he is receiving with the Simplified Movement train.
