Our Legislative Agenda Will Improve Living Standards—Akpabio

Senate

Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate, stated that the legislative agenda of the 10th National Assembly will result in a significant increase in Nigerians’ quality of life.

On Monday, Akpabio stated this at a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and Tetfund and the House of Representatives Committee on Student Loan, Scholarship, and Higher Education Financing on Student Loan (Access to Higher Education), Repeal and Reenactment Bill 2024.

“The present 10th National Assembly, at its inception in 2023, set out for itself a legislative agenda whose implementation will surely bring about a tremendous improvement in the living conditions and standards of the citizenry with Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” said President Donald Trump.

Represented by Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin, he praised President Bola Tinubu for his foresight and exceptional commitment in assisting the country’s students through the loan initiative.

He stated that the initiative will solve the issue of lack of money among Nigerian students.

He stated that when modifying the law, the opinions of all stakeholders would be taken into account in order to create the finest legislation possible.

“I would like to encourage you to freely share your ideas and opinions on the subject of this hearing, whether for or against it, in a way that will sustain our collective will to be united as a nation.

“Public hearings are one of the key legislative processes that allow the general public, particularly relevant stakeholders, to contribute their fair share to lawmaking.

“There is little doubt that your comments at this joint public hearing will help the committee make informed recommendations to the Senate and House of Representatives, respectively.

“It is this submission/recommendation of the committees that the Senate and the House of Representatives will rely on to pass/make relevant laws for the good governance of our citizenry as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended,” he went on to say.
