A total number of One thousand Eight Hundred and Ninety Five (1895) prospective NYSC members were swore in for the commencement of their one year compulsory National Youth Service in Nasarawa State.

The swearing in ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Dan-yamusa NYSC orientation camp in Keffi, keffi local government area of the state.

It is in report that Governor Abdullahi Sule, Chairman ,Keffi Local Government Area , Honourable Shehu Baba Mohammed , traditional rulers and top security personnel were in attendance, while the Batch C , stream 1 corps members took the oath.

Speaking, Governor Abdullahi Sule , represented by the state commissioner Youths, Sport and Development, Honourable Jafaru Ango said the future of the country lies in the hands of the youths , therefore corps members have a great role to play in shaping corporate destiny.

Governor Sule , however called on them not to mortgage the unique opportunity that will give room to their rise to greater heights and sustainable future.

According to him” I therefore urge you to be attentive in all course content and adhere to the by-laws of the scheme. This will not only enhance your interaction and tolerance, but will also provide you with the useful tools for communication that will enable you creatively tackle the challenges ahead.

“I also commend the NYSC for sustaining the ideals of the founding fathers by fostering national unity , integration and development through the building of the entrepreneurship spirit among our youths in the course of this service year by continually instilling in Nigerian youths the spirit of patriotism.

“Let me place on record that Nasarawa State is peaceful , so be rest assured of your security, welfare , and general well-being . Security is a top priority of my administration as indicated in the robust synergy between the state and security agencies” Governor sule reiterated

Also speaking , in a separate interview, the Chairman , keffi Local Government Area, Honourable Shehu Baba Mohammad , charges the corps members to shun social vices and intake of illicit drugs.

He assured them of their safety and security , saying Keffi is a peaceful city , as such they have no course for alarm as he will make sure adequate security is provided for them .

Earlier ,the NYSC State coordinator Abdullahi Jikamshi ,speaking on behalf of Director General of NYSC Brigadier General Y. D Ahmed congratulated and welcome corps members to the scheme.

Stressing the purpose of the orientation course,he said it is aim at equipping corps members with practical social and leadership skills that will enable them face the challenges of service year ahead.

“The orientation course is also designed to give corps members adequate physical and mental training , instill discipline and to imbibe in them the spirit of collective responsibility as an important ingredient for nation building “he added.
