NYSC DG Urges Corps To Promote Unity and Responsibility

During the closing ceremony of the orientation exercise for the 2024 Batch A Stream 2 corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Y.D Ahmed, urged Corps members to serve as exemplary ambassadors, fostering unity in their assigned locations.

Represented by the NYSC Coordinator for Sokoto State, Alhaji Usman Yakubu Yaro, General Ahmed stressed the importance of maintaining a positive reputation and refraining from involvement in criminal activities.

“I admonish you to uphold the values of patriotism, diligence, and perseverance, which are essential qualities for nation-building,” he stated, underscoring the responsibility of corps members to represent not only their families but also the NYSC positively.

General Ahmed cautioned against night journeys, advising corps members to halt their travels by 6:00 PM and seek designated safe accommodations. He also encouraged them to actively participate in the Skill Acquisition Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program and be present at their primary assignment locations.

Additionally, the DG emphasized the importance of respecting the culture and traditions of their host communities.

The event’s highlight included the distribution of posting letters to successful corps members.
