Dayo Amusa, a Nollywood actress, has openly expressed her opposition to bestowing the ‘Best Dressed Female’ award on the famed crossdresser Bobrisky during a glitzy movie premiere event in Lagos.
The award, which included a N1 million cash reward, was given out over the weekend, but it was not without controversy.
Bobrisky, a figure who constantly grabs the public’s attention with his fashion choices and character, was honored at the event, where he stood out as the best dressed among the female participants.
Critics, including Amusa, have questioned the decision, and she responded to the prize on Instagram.
Amusa expressed her dismay in a video message on her Instagram account, calling the award a “mockery of the women present” at the event.

She expressed her dissatisfaction by questioning the judges’ criteria, claiming that the selection of a crossdresser as the best-dressed female devalued the efforts of all the other women who attended the premiere.
“I went to a colleague’s debut yesterday, and they announced the best dressers would be chosen: one male and one female. Don’t get me wrong: the winner could be anyone, but it can’t be a crossdresser. So, what is wrong with us? I don’t get it,” Amusa commented.
Amusa emphasized the apparent affront to the female guests, saying, “I cannot see the judges demeaning every lady who was present. You had to choose a winner—a female best dressed and a male best dressed—and you squandered the efforts of all the women at the event by awarding the best-dressed female to a crossdresser. What’s wrong with us? I don’t understand.”
The actress went on to say that if the goal was to honor crossdressers, a new category should have been created rather than “disrespecting women” by giving the female-centric award to a crossdresser.
