Nollywood has been plunged into mourning as the beloved veteran actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has passed away at the age of 62. The actor reportedly breathed his last on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Evercare Hospital in Lagos State after a prolonged battle with illness.

Mr Ibu’s health struggles began in October 2023 when he fell ill and required financial assistance from well-wishers. Despite efforts to save him, including undergoing multiple surgeries, the actor’s condition deteriorated, leading to the amputation of one of his legs in November 2023.

According to reports, Mr Ibu’s health challenges stemmed from diseased blood vessels, which eventually posed a risk to his life. Despite the amputation, the actor continued to battle various health issues until his passing.
