NiMet Forecasts 3-day Haziness, Cloudiness Across Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) forecasts haziness and cloudiness throughout the country from Monday to Wednesday.

NiMet’s weather outlook, announced on Sunday in Abuja, predicted moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility ranging from 2km to 5km over the northern and north-central states.

“Except for Benue, Kogi, and Kwara, where patches of cloud in a hazy atmosphere are expected. Cloud patches are likely over the southern inland during the forecast period.

“Patches of clouds are expected over the coast in the morning, with chances of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Edo, Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states during the afternoon and evening hours,” according to the report.

According to NiMet, moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility ranging from 2km to 5km is forecast over the northern and north-central regions on Tuesday.

With the exception of Kwara, Benue, and Kogi, patches of clouds in hazy weather were expected.

“Clouds are predicted to form in the morning over the southern inland and coast.

“Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of Ondo, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Osun, Edo, Imo, Enugu, Lagos, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states,” according to the report.

The agency predicted a small dust haze over the northern region on Wednesday.

It anticipated patches of cloud in a hazy environment throughout the North Central area, with the exception of Plateau, Kwara, Benue, and Kogi states, where isolated thunderstorms were likely later in the day.

NiMet predicted patches of clouds over the south and coast in the morning, with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms.

“This will affect sections of Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Edo, Oyo, Ondo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Delta states later in the day.

The agency encouraged people with respiratory difficulties to wear face masks whenever feasible.

“People with respiratory difficulties should be cautious about the current weather conditions. Children and the elderly should dress warmly at night.

“Pay special attention to your skin, eyes, and lips. Moisturize your skin and lips as often as feasible. It also urged airline operators to receive up-to-date weather reports and forecasts from NiMet to ensure appropriate planning in their operations. (NAN)
