Mother Of Kano TikToker Protests Daughter’s Treatment At Psychiatric Hospital

Murja

The drama surrounding the arrest and trial of Kano-based social media star Murja Kunya has taken a new turn, with her mother, Hadizatul Kubra, condemning what she saw as barbaric treatment of her daughter at Kano’s Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital.

Murja Kunya, who is currently in the custody of the Kano State Hisbah Board, the state government’s Sharia enforcement arm, has been ordered by a Sharia Court to undergo medical evaluation at a government-owned psychiatric facility prior to her approaching trial.

The Hisbah Board has filed charges against the notorious female TikToker in the Sharia Court, including obscenity, public annoyance, and promoting prostitution.

However, in response to the event, Murja’s lawyer, A.U. Haji, chastised the hospital for reportedly attempting to provide an unnamed chemical to his client without first alerting her of her health state, claiming that the action violated her human rights.

Murja has been aggressive and resistant to medical treatment, worsening her position even further.

Murja’s mother, Hadizatul Kubra, also expressed her outrage at her daughter’s alleged mistreatment in a viral audio interview that circulated on social media, underscoring that Murja was not mentally ill but rather dramatic. She recalled being summoned to the hospital, where Murja was allegedly crying uncontrollably and lamenting her daughter’s apparent mistreatment.

She, therefore, appealed to the state administration for leniency while opposing any psychiatric diagnosis or treatment for her daughter.

“I know they are doing this to kill my daughter, and I will never allow her to be injected with anything, no matter what,” she said in the viral audio tape.

She emphasized Murja’s concern for the family, particularly her attempts to support both herself and her ailing father.

The court hearing will resume on May 20, 2024, following the conclusion of the mental evaluation of the TikToker, as directed by the trial judge.
