Meta, the company behind popular social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, is rolling out a new subscription service called Meta Verified, aimed at boosting the online presence of businesses on these platforms.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced plans to begin testing this service in certain regions, starting with Facebook and Instagram, and later extending it to WhatsApp.

Meta Verified is a monthly subscription package designed for creators and brands, offering exclusive benefits to eligible profiles.

Its primary goal is to enhance authenticity and credibility for businesses, fostering trust among their followers and increasing confidence in purchase decisions.

Subscribers to Meta Verified gain access to a toolkit that includes a verified badge, proactive impersonation monitoring, customer support, and improved discoverability.

Businesses can choose between single-app subscriptions or bundled subscriptions across Instagram, Facebook, and, in the future, WhatsApp.

Meta Verified business subscriptions are currently available for purchase in select test countries, with monthly prices starting at $21.99 USD/month per Facebook page or Instagram account, or $34.99 USD/month for both platforms.

On Instagram and Facebook, businesses with Meta Verified status will receive prominent placement in search results and recommendations on user feeds.

WhatsApp business subscribers will enjoy additional premium features like customizable WhatsApp pages and multi-device chat support.

To provide context, a Meta spokesperson said in a statement:

“We’re starting with subscription features that help small businesses achieve what they want most on the platform: to establish their brand and be discovered by new customers.”

“As we learn from initial testing, we’ll continue to evolve our business offerings to add more value for businesses of all sizes, such as more tools for people to easily discover and engage with verified businesses on our apps.”

Eligibility

To be eligible for Meta Verified, businesses must meet certain criteria, including being at least 18 years old, adhering to profile standards, maintaining a history of activity, having a valid photo ID matching profile detail, and complying with two-factor authentication.

The expansion of Meta Verified services aims to offer businesses authentication, protection, support, and increased visibility, ultimately assisting them in establishing their brand and attracting new customers.
