In a dynamic world of STEM education and innovation, the InterswitchSPAK National Science Competition continues to inspire secondary school students in Nigeria and Kenya, fostering their enthusiasm for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

The competition’s fifth edition, which began on October 29th, is creating quite a buzz.

This year’s edition – InterswitchSPAK 5.0 – marks a significant milestone in the timeline of this laudable initiative,” says the newsletter from Interswitch, emphasizing the impact it has had on young students pursuing STEM careers.

The initiative, introduced by Interswitch Group, has seen remarkable success since its inception, expanding beyond Nigeria’s borders to Kenya.

The journeys of past winners serve as a testament to this success, as they “continue to shine like bright stars across the globe, spurred on by their passion and drive, and by the support they have received from Interswitch,” according to the report.

The competition has evolved over the years and now welcomes 81 students out of more than 17,000 applicants to compete for a substantial N12.5 million prize pool.

The top three winners will receive scholarships, laptops, and monthly stipends, with the first-place winner awarded N7.5 million in scholarships for five years.

Furthermore, to recognize the linchpins of institutional learning, the teachers will receive rewards for their remarkable contributions. Additionally, contestants ranked 4th to 24th will also be rewarded with cash prizes.

The competition is expanding its reach, airing in Kenya, and aims to inspire young minds across Africa to embrace the wonders of STEM education. It is clear that Interswitch Group is dedicated to promoting STEM education and empowering young innovators in Africa.
