The forthcoming coming governorship election in Imo State is gaining momentum as candidate of the People’s Democratic Party ,PDP Senator Samuel Anyawu and his deputy, Jones Onyerri meet with House of Representatives member, Ugo Chinyere to discuss security situation of the state ahead of upcoming off season elections.
According to a statement by Chinyere, the meeting has sent shivers in the camp of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Ugo Chinyere said it was a watershed moment for the 2023 Imo governorship race, and as a key player in the political landscape of the state, they discussed on how to recover Imo state from the APC when they visited him in his office at the national assembly.
This unprecedented meeting he said signifies a significant stride towards unity, reconciliation, and the overarching interests of Imo State. It also signaled an air of agreement to forge a common ground despite past differences.
According to him, the over two hour meeting delved into critical issues currently facing the state as they also explore potential avenues for collective action.
Central to the discussion, he also said reconciliation, forgiveness, unity were imminent , and the pressing need to address the ongoing challenges of violence, security breaches, and social unrest that have marred the state’s progress. The prevailing sentiment was that the time had come for Imo State’s leaders to set aside personal and political differences and prioritize well-being of the populace.
Hon Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, in a display of transparency and commitment to the greater good, acknowledged the significance of the meeting in light of their historical affiliations with different political factions. Chinyere pledged to engage in extensive consultations with various leaders across Imo State, indicating that he would make an announcement regarding his choice of candidate.
