Google Hustle Academy has allocated a substantial 75 million Naira in funding to 15 small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in Nigeria.

The announcement coincides with the graduation of 5,300 SMBs from the academy across Africa, showcasing a steadfast commitment to enhancing business skills and fostering growth.

Google West Africa Country Director, Olumide Balogun, commended the determination and resilience exhibited by these SMBs, stating, “The passion and resilience shown by these SMBs are truly inspiring. The Hustle Academy is a testament to what focused training and resources can achieve.

The funding initiative aims to provide financial assistance, mentorship, and access to essential business tools for the 15 selected Nigerian SMBs. Notable beneficiaries include Rae’s Clothing, Wauley Projects Limited, Pinch N’ Dash, and Segunfunmi Foods Nigeria Limited.

Femi Bolaji, founder of Wauley Projects Limited, expressed gratitude for the practical business knowledge gained through the academy, stating, “The Hustle Academy has equipped us with vital business knowledge, and being selected for the fund is a significant boost that will propel our business forward.

The academy, designed to address specific challenges faced by African SMBs, focuses on practical skills and resources for business growth. Since its launch in 2022, over 10,300 entrepreneurs have participated, underscoring the enduring impact of the program.

The initiative is not merely a financial boost; it aims to invigorate the Nigerian business landscape by recognizing the vital role SMBs play in the economy. The diverse representation of industries among the graduates and fund recipients highlights the creativity of Nigerian entrepreneurs.

The selection process for the fund involved a meticulous evaluation of 1,000 applications by a seasoned panel from private, government, and training sectors.

Mojolaoluwa Aderemi-Makinde, Head of Brand and Reputation at Google, emphasized that the fund’s impact goes beyond Google, stating, “The fund was not about Google but the impact it would create in the economy.”

The Hustle Academy Fund serves as a testament to the resilience and innovation of Nigerian small businesses, contributing to economic growth, job creation, and the ongoing improvement of SMBs in Nigeria.
