Aruku Monkom, a notable youth leader in the Cross River North Senatorial District, completed a 474.9-kilometer trip from the state in honor of Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe and landed in Abuja on Saturday afternoon.
The young man, who began his marathon walk at Federal Government College in Obudu on March 19, arrived in Abuja about 11.45 a.m. and was greeted by the congressman and other supporters.
“I trekked day and night, and thank God I was able to make it here after, and I embarked on the long walk as my only way to appreciate the quality representation our Distinguished Senator has provided the Cross River North in the Senate.”
“But I did video of myself in every popular location on my way down here, starting from the Federal Government College, Obudu, down to Makurdi, Akwanga, Keffi, Mararaba, and finally Abuja,” Monkom said in a statement.

Richard, the coordinator of the PDP Youth Movement in Cross River, told journalists that he was in Abuja to deliver an award to Jarigbe and encourage him to continue his good job for the zone.
“I have only met the Distinguished Senator once, and this is my first time coming closer to him, and embarking on the long walk was the only way I felt I could honor him for standing with our people.”
According to him, the congressman has become a role model for everyone in society because of his outstanding legislative performance, which focuses primarily on human capital and infrastructure development in the zone.
Upon receiving the teenager at his home, the legislator praised him for his outstanding display of unity.
Jarigbe, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Gas, stated that Monkom’s move will motivate him to do more for his constituents.
