Juan Micha, the head coach of Equatorial Guinea, has voiced conflicting emotions over his team’s performance against Nigeria in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), stating he was not happy with the outcome.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Equatorial Guinea earned a valuable point on the second day of Group A.
The Nzalang Nacional were able to resist the offensive might of the Super Eagles, largely thanks to the great form of goalkeeper Jesus Ngua, who was subsequently named Man of the Match.
It was clear that Micha was not feeling very positive following the draw with Nigeria.
Micha declined to call this outcome an accomplishment during a news conference held after the game.
He informed reporters that he planned to keep working toward his goals for this year’s AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.
“I believe that the group I am in charge of is getting ready every day to participate in this competition.
Having played at a high level, he claimed to be fortunate to be knowledgeable about football details.
He continued by saying that his squad planned to remain composed and avoid getting carried away by this good outcome.
“There is still more work to be done; our mission is not over.
“We are in a group stage; this is the first match. We will try to reach the next stage before seeing what happens next.”
Equatorial Guinea will face Guinea-Bissau on Thursday for the second game.
A victory against the Djurtus will allow Micha and his men to take a step in the round of 16.
During its three previous participations, the Central African country has always managed to get out of the group stages
