The Anglican Bishop of Ikwerre and Archbishop of the Niger Delta Province, Most Rev’d Dr. Blessing Enyindah, has asked President Bola Tinubu to act quickly to alleviate the growing misery of Nigerians.
Enyindah, who is also the Dean of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, made the call during his sermon at the memorial ceremony for the late Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, held on Friday at Saint Andrews Cathedral Church in Imola, Owo, Ondo.
The preacher stated, “On behalf of Nigerians, I pray and call on President Senator Bola Tinubu to do something to alleviate the hardships that Nigerians are experiencing.
“We had hoped he would do it because he promised us greater hope, and he said it was his turn, thus the opportunity has now been provided to him. We are waiting and awaiting the fulfillment of our fresh optimism.
“We plead with him to act fast because time, whether four or eight years, as the case may be, is brief, and time is running.”

Hundreds of supporters from all walks of life, including Akeredolu’s former deputy and successor, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, attended the late former governor’s funeral service at the church in his hometown of Owo.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Tinubu, led other guests, including George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF); Engr. Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State; Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, APC National Chairman; Biodun Oyebanji, Governor of Ekiti State; and Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Governor of Anambra State.
Other governors attending included those from Lagos, Ogun, Edo, Delta, Benue, and Bayelsa.
Also present were Minister of State for Youth Olawande Ayodele; former governor of Ogun State Senator Ibikunle Amosun; former governor of Ekiti State Kayode Fayemi; former governor of Ondo State Dr. Olusegun Mimiko; Chief Olusola Oke; SAN; Barr. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN; Hon. Wale Akinterinwa; former governor of Ogun State Senator Gbenga Daniel; former governor of Zamfara State Senator Abdulaziz Yari; Senator Chris Ngige; former governor of Ekiti State Chief Niyi Adebayo; and Chief Femi Falana, SAN; wife of the late founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Pastor Evelyn TB Joshua, political appointees, among others.
