Kai Cenat, an American streamer and YouTuber, has declared his intention to begin building a school for children in Makoko, a well-known floating slum in Lagos, Nigeria. This statement comes following Cenat’s recent visit to the area, during which he kindly gave money to the local community.
Cenat visited Makoko during a recent trip to Nigeria, where he witnessed firsthand the community’s living conditions. The visit included a warm welcome from skit maker Shanks as well as a meeting with Nigerian music icon Davido. Cenat stated his devotion to the educational endeavor in a video posted with his followers, and he requested assistance from anyone who could contribute work or provide quality equipment.
“We are officially beginning the process of building a new school for the kids here in Makoko,” Cenat added, emphasizing the urgent need for educational infrastructure in the area. The program has elicited a wide spectrum of opinions on social media, with many appreciating Cenat’s attempts to improve the lives of Makoko’s youngsters.

Twitter user @Alambajugu applauded the streamer’s activities, adding, “Imagine someone who has only been to this country once doing something the government has been unable to do for six decades.”
Similarly, @ayomiepat_ expressed hope about the project’s success but also raised worries about the integrity of people who will manage the finances. “That is impressive… I simply hope he doesn’t award the project to somebody who will divert all the funds to their personal accounts.”
