Nigerians in diaspora commend Tinubu for appointing Wike FCT minister BY EMMA OKEREH
Nigerians in Diaspora, a non governmental, non-profitable organization based in the UK, has applauded what it referred to as ‘strategic and wise leadership initiative’ of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to have appointed the erstwhile governor of Rivers State, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a statement made available to the media on Monday, August 28, in the UK, the President of the group, Mr Yunana Shibkau, while expressing profound gratitude of the group for the wisdom of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, to have leaned on the good prospects of balance of power, equity, justice and fair play to have appointed a Southern Christian to be in charge of Nigeria’s center of unity, after close to 50 years. According to him, ” This is significant of President Tinubu’s sincerity of purpose, vision, focus, and deliberate attempt at restoring faith in the oneness and unity of Nigeria”.

The group congratulated the newly appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike on his well deserved appointment and wished him the best in his determination and avowed commitment to selfless service to his fatherland. According to the group, Wike’s outspokenness, straightforwardness, frankness, and boldness are the required character traits for any body to function effectively in the Ministry of the Federal Capital Territory which is our nation’s melting pot and symbolic of Nigeria’s strength and unity in diversity.

“We are enthused with Wike’s appointment and are ready to give him maximum cooperation to ensure he succeeds. “Right now, we have put in place a process of attracting foreign investors who are ready to partner with the Ministry of Federal Capital Territory to introduce socio- economic and welfarist programs as well as bring infrastructural development and expand more channels of cooperation and investment possibilities in the FCT”.

The group reiterated the determination of few of its executive members to visit the country in no distant time to pay the Honourable Minister a courtesy call and also make available to him the blueprint of the socio- economic developmental strategies they have for the FCT.
