The Commandant of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS), Kebbi State,Musa Hussaini Rambo, has confirmed that his patrol team led by himself have neutralized one bandit and recovered 74 rustled cows at JarKuka village in Bachaka ward of Arewa Local Government Area of the state.
Rambo,also paraded two suspected cables vandal at the hunters headquarters with exhibits including knives,handsaw, stolen cables before handover them to the Nigeria’s Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kebbi State Command for proper prosecution.
The Commandant of the NHFSS confirmed this while briefing newsmen in Binrin Kebbi.
According to him, ” We were able to eliminate one bandit and recovered 74 rustled cows at Jarkuka village in Bachaka ward of Arewa Local Government Area of the state.
” We achieved the feat when bandits in their numbers were herding the rustled cows into Niger Republic en route to Sokoto State.
“We had engaged them in gun duel and our men overpowered them as they successfully eliminated one of them and recovered 74 rustled cows,” he said.
He noted that the cows have been handed over to the appropriate authority for onward handover to the owners.
While speaking on the vandalism, Rambo revealed that the service were able to arrest two suspected armored cable thieves who specialised in vandalism and stealing armored cables in the state.
“Our men apprehended the suspect, one of our men napped the suspects, we discovered that one Auwal Musa who specialised in vandalism and stealing of armored cables and selling to surreptitious buyers at Gwadangwaji area in Birnin Kebbi.
” When we got nap of Musa, he directed us to his buyer, one Malam Labaran Umar, who specialised in buying and selling stollen properties from thieves.
“Umar would buy a kilogramme of armored cable at the cots of N5,000 from thieves.
“Our men tailed him and got him together with the thief and we are going to hand them over to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation and prosecution,” he said.
Rambo commended the Adviser on Power and Political Affairs to Gov. Nasir Idris for his unwavering support to the service in order to compliment in strengthening the security situation in the state.
The commander reiterated the determination of the Service towards complementing the efforts of the formal security agencies in the fight against crimes most especially in the forest.
While receiving the suspects and exhibits in his office, Commandant of NSCDC,Kebbi state command,Kabiru Abubakar Alkammawa assured the hunter’s that the suspects would be prosecuted immediately.
He commended the hunter’s for their efforts and collaboration with his command,stressed that they would continue to cooperate with each other to fight criminals in the state.
Earlier,a victim of the stolen cables,Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Liba told newsmen that he discovered that his cable attached to the KEDCO electricity pole were cut off earlier morning of Wednesday until hunters brought the suspects to their community.
He added that this was the second time the cables were stolen which were bought in 2019 at the cost of N500,000 plus and it would be difficult to get the cables at the same price today.
A community leader, Honourable Arzika Zaki ,former Sole Administrator of Farama/Zauro while speaking with newsmen lamented that the suspects have thrown the community behind Presidential lodge, Birnin Kebbi into total darkness with their devilish actions in many occasions.
He disclosed that few weeks ago, they stolen their cables worth N1.2 million which the community residents have to cough out the money by charging each other to restore electricity to the area.
