Dani Alves is poised to be released from prison this week after allegedly persuading Neymar’s father to pay his €1 million (£850,000/$1.09 million) bail.
Marca believes Neymar’s father has agreed to finance the bond required to release Alves from detention. The former Barcelona full-back was convicted of sexual assault and sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
The fullback’s accounts were frozen during the court proceedings, making it impossible for him to pay the bond money. However, Neymar’s father will be liable for submitting the €1 million bond, allowing the former football player to be released from detention later this week, according to La Vanguardia [via BeSoccer].

On August 9, Neymar allegedly paid the Spanish courts €150,000 as “mitigating compensation for damage caused.” On Thursday, he received a minimum sentence of four years, and it is thought that the payment had a considerable impact on the length of his sentence.
Alves’ legacy, which was previously shaped by his accomplishments with Barcelona, has now been eclipsed by his illegal activities. Notably, he has 43 professional football trophies, second only to Lionel Messi’s (44). If granted bail, he will be placed under house arrest for the next three years of his sentence.
