The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has commissioned the fully furnished Energy Management System (EMS) by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
According to the statement signed on Thursday by the Director Information, Dibiaezue-Eke Florence, indicated that the commissioning recently took place at the REA Headquarters, Abuja.
The Energy Management System is an off-grid electricity Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for integrated Energy Management and Control system.
Represented by the Director, Renewable and Rural Power Access Engr. Ali-Dapsharima Abubakar, the Minister explained that the EMS in line with the Electricity Act, 2023 under Section 154 will enable the REA to monitor projects effectively, generate and analyses data remotely to ensure its projects performance .
He added that with the integrated EMS launched, investors will now have access to realtime data for electricity planning and market intelligence.
Adelabu commended the REA efforts stating that with collaboration of this nature would help bridge the gap between the served and the underserved.
Earlier, the Managing Director/CEO, Rural Electrification Agency, Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad stated that this integrated energy management system being launched today is capable of hosting all mini-grids within the 4 communities in electrified areas around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He stressed the milestone achieved under the Korean Energy Project to be a testament of the Agency’s resolve towards collaboration with development partners in delivering its mandat.
Also, the South Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Kim Young-chae in his goodwill message thanked the Federal Government of Nigeria for providing enabling environment for Korean Institute for Advancement of Technology and its Korean implementing consortium partners lljin Electric, S&D Powernics , Smart Grid Association and Technology University of Korea to successfully execute the projects.
He reaffirmed Republic of South Korea commitment through the Official Development Assistance (ODA) fund in supporting Nigeria power sector particularly on the development of solar Mini-grids.
