In Enugu, some filling stations have reduced petrol pump prices.

A correspondent who traveled around Enugu observed that certain gas stations have lowered their pump prices to between 660 and 680 naira.

Prior to Tuesday, no filling station offered fuel at the pump price of N660 per liter, with most selling fuel between N690 and N720 per liter.

Mr. Obinna Ndukwe, a marketer who spoke with our correspondent, attributed the development to the reported guarantee by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC Ltd.) that there would be increased supply for merchants at the depot.

Ndukwe added that several merchants had already received the product at what he described as a reasonable price.

He guaranteed that if the NNPC continued to supply the product at the depot, the price of fuel would fall even further.

“I can attribute the modest drop to the NNPC’s assurance to marketers that there will be greater supplies at the depot.

“I’ve heard that some people have already received fuel from the depot, as promised by the NNPC, and I anticipate that if they continue to make the product available, the pump price of fuel will drop.

“I even found out that the NNPC is making the product available at a new price, so why wouldn’t the price drop? We are not comfortable selling gasoline at outrageous prices, but we also need to recoup our investment,” he stated.
