Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, NFF President, as one of the ways to ensure financial transparency, has revealed the project the Federation will embark on with FIFA forward support fund 3.0.
Gusau said NFF is very keen on the judicious use of funds in the administration of the game in the country and it is very important to reduce cost, especially in the accommodation of players of the national teams, while camping in the country.
Gusau noted that the Federation dispense too much money regarding hotel accommodation of players of the national teams. It is therefore imperative for the Federation to build hostel that will take care of this challenge.
To this effect, FIFA forward support fund 3.0 will be deployed to the building of hostel accommodation and other infrastructures within the Package B complex of the MKO Abiola stadium, Abuja. The project will commence next year, Gusau mentioned.
“By this time next year, we hope we have started and made some good progress in the building of our hostel accommodation for players and officials of the national teams through our FIFA forward support fund 3.0.
“NFF will have the provision of the next phase of support of FIFA in the FIFA forward 3.0. If you remember, i tried to make this known, that I am going to use that opportunity to build infrastructures like hostel accommodation.
“One of the key problems we are having is that, a lot of financial resources coming to the NFF, we used them for hotel accommodation. So, if we are able to have a befitting hostel, it will help the Federation to accommodate a lot of these young players we are inviting to the National teams to camp.
Aside from building hostel accommodation for the national teams, Gusau also informed that infrastructures will be upgraded regarding football pitches at the MKO Abiola stadium.
“As well as you see, we have only that pitch, the FIFA goal project pitch that is even a little bit downgraded. So, I think it is a high time for us to have a new pitch, both artificial and natural pitches for the Super Eagles and other teams. So, that is what we tend to do with our 3.0 FIFA forward support.
“There is a significant purpose on it, all that is required from us from FIFA, we will try to showforth the documents and our plans. We are going to commence very soon and everyone can monitor the progress.
“By this time next year, we hope to see a lot of progress from the project. It will be very easy for monitoring because it’s going to happen here. So, you can come anytime and see what is going on,” Guaus, the NFF President, who is a Chartered Accountant by profession concluded.
