On Wednesday, suspected gunmen kidnapped Mr. Adegbenjo of Community High School, Alabata, in Oyo State’s Akinyele Local Government Area.
The victim, an albino secondary school teacher, was kidnapped in the early hours of Wednesday morning while trekking to school.
Residents were concerned that the victim’s abduction, being an albino, could be connected to a ritual kidnapping.

Some people have long believed that albinos were good for attracting money, making them vulnerable to being used in money rituals.
Another teacher at the same school, who requested anonymity, urged for a joint effort by the police and local vigilantes to quickly storm and search the forest at Alabata on the Iseyin-Moniya Road to rescue the victim.
“We are pleading that the vigilante group and policemen be dispatched to the forest around Alabata to search for him before anything could happen to him,” the instructor said.
