Fubara Appoints Odili’s Wife, Amasiemaka As Pro-Chancellors

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has approved the nomination of Justice Mary Odili, a retired Supreme Court justice and wife of former state governor Dr. Peter Odili, as pro-chancellor and chairman of the Governing Council of Rivers State University (RSU).

The governor also authorized the nomination of Chief Adokiye Amasiemaka, a former Super Eagles striker and former Rivers State attorney-general and commissioner for justice, as the pro-chancellor and chairman of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education’s Governing Council.

Dr. Tammy Danagogo, the secretary to the state government (SSG), stated in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday that Fubara authorized the appointment of 10 other people to the RSU governing council.

Barrister Mela Oforibika, Chukwuma Chinwo, Adata Bio-Briggs, Dr. Jonathan Nimi Hart, and Ngo Martins-Yellowe have all been appointed.

Others include Dr. Robinson N. Ewoh, Dr. Nancy Nwankwo, Dr. Igoni William-Park, and Mr. Ogbugbu Samuel Barisua.

According to the statement, the governor also approved the appointment of six members to the IAUE governing council.

They are: Dr. Iboh Okidim, Professor Jason Osai, Professor Ijeoma F.V. Akpu, Dr. Akabue Godson Ugochukwu, Mrs. Mmeme Gogo-Adiari, and Hon. Dominic Sata.

It stated that the appointments were effective immediately.
