The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), a grassroots program aimed at empowering women farmers and reducing poverty in the country’s six geopolitical zones.

The National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA)-supported program was launched on Wednesday in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

Mrs. Tinubu stated that the Renewed Hope Initiative was consistent with President Tinubu’s administration’s aim of strengthening the agriculture sector and ensuring food security.

She stated that the initiative would provide financial and material assistance to 20 women farmers per state for a total of N10 million per state.

She also delivered bank drafts for N10 million each to the South-East First Ladies, who serve as the initiative’s zonal organizers.

NALDA’s executive secretary and chief executive officer, Prince Paul Ikonne, stated that the organization was committed to collaborating with the First Lady’s Office to promote women, particularly young women, to pursue careers in agribusiness.

He stated that NALDA has made provisions for two million women under the initiative and informed the First Lady that NALDA would accompany her all the way across the country to touch the lives of citizens.
