The Federal Government stated that 42,000 metric tonnes of grain had begun to be distributed in seven state capitals across the Northwestern states.
Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, told State House media after the Federal Executive Council meeting, which was presided over by President Bola Tinubu.
Kyari, who stated that further details on the distribution would not be disclosed for security reasons, mentioned that the ministry is currently collaborating with the Office of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and other national security agencies to address the risk of vandalism in food warehouses across the country.

He stated, “We are distributing to state capitals in the first instance, as you all are aware of the risk involved in the vandalism of foodstuffs, so we are working with the Office of the National Security Adviser and other national security agencies.”
“Distribution has begun. However, I will not comment on the distribution’s security features. “I can assure you that we have started distributing in the northwestern states, and we are distributing out of seven points,” the minister was quoted as saying.
Recall that the Federal Government announced the start of the distribution of 42,000 metric tonnes of grains across the country on March 1, 2024.
As part of the Federal Government’s efforts to offset the effects of Nigeria’s current economic conditions, grains are being distributed across the country.
