Except for a last-minute change, the City of David Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Lagos will not play a visible role in the funeral rites of Herbert Wigwe, the late group chief executive officer (GCEO) of Access Holdings Plc, who died on board a helicopter in the United States about three weeks earlier.
Wigwe, an active member of the important City of David Parish of the RCCG, died in the air accident, along with his wife, first son, a friend and former chairman of NGX, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, and crew members.
However, the City of David Parish of RCCG was glaringly absent from the Wigwe family’s event schedule, which was announced on Wednesday. Many people were astonished by the turn of events because they had expected the church to be one of the places for the funeral ceremonies.
