The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Apostle Theophilus Oloche Ebonyi, the general overseer of Faith On The Rock Ministry International, for scamming church members and other Nigerians of N1,319,040,274.31.
According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, Ebonyi was arrested for defrauding his victims, which included non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and individuals, by advertising an intervention project through his NGO (Theobarth Global Foundation), claiming that the Ford Foundation was offering a grant of $20,000,000 to assist the less privileged in society.
Ebonyi is still apparently reaching out to his followers on several social media networks to promote his fraudulent Ford Foundation grant.

Ebonyi, according to the statement, “allegedly beguiled his victims to subscribe as beneficiaries of the phony grant by asking them to pay for registration forms and clusters.”
“Each subscriber was required to pay N1,800,000. Ebonyi allegedly made N1,391,040,274.31 from this deal. His subscribers are innocent and unknowing Nigerians and non-governmental organizations from around the country,” according to the statement.
The EFCC’s investigations revealed that the Ford Foundation had no arrangements, grants, relationships, or dealings with Ebonyi. The Foundation clearly disclaimed him and his NGO, emphasizing that it had no affiliation with them.
