When the charges were read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.
S.H. Sa’ad, the prosecution lawyer, then applied for a trial date, while Shamsu Dauda, the defense attorney, applied for bail for the accused.
The prosecutor, on the other hand, objected to the defense counsel’s oral plea for bail, stating that for the prosecution to reply, the defense must file a formal bail application via an affidavit.
The matter was adjourned for hearing on April 23, 2024, by Justice Tambuwal.
He further directed that a formal bail application be filed before the court while remanding the defendant in the custody of the correctional services.
