The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged political leaders at all levels in Nigeria to heed Easter’s lessons and govern with wisdom, fairness, and a real dedication to Nigeria’s common good.
Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President of CAN, made this plea in his Easter sermon. He also exhorted all Nigerians to embody the spirit of Easter in their daily lives and to demonstrate sacrificial love for one another.
Okoh stated that, in the midst of people’s daily struggles and achievements, Easter serves as a timeless reminder of hope, renewal, and redemption.
He went on to say that this is a time to reflect on the ultimate sacrifice for humanity and the triumph of light over darkness.

“The lessons of Easter are especially important for Nigerian society today. In this moment of uncertainty, we are asked to embody the virtues of love for one another. Just as Christ’s resurrection gave the world new life and hope, we, as a nation, can rise above our divisions and hardships to work toward a better future.
“Remember that Easter is more than just a celebration; it is also a call to action. As leaders, we have the responsibility to instill newness in the system by leading with integrity, compassion, and humility.
“As citizens, we are called to stand united in the face of adversity, to extend a hand of friendship to our neighbors, and to strive for peace and justice in our communities,” he went on to say.
The CAN president also stated that when Christians remember the Lord’s resurrection, they should renew their commitment to establishing a nation based on constructive values.
“May this Easter season be a time of reflection, renewal, and rededication to the principles that hold us together as a people,” he prayed.
