The list of performers for the 2024 Grammy Awards has been expanded to include Nigerian music sensation Damini Ogulu, also known as Burna Boy.
The “African Giant” will perform at the ceremony on February 4 in Los Angeles, the Recording Academy said on Monday.
He performs alongside previously announced artists Travis Scott, Luke Combs, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, and Dua Lipa.
Luke Combs, Travis Scott, and Burna Boy have been added to the 2024 GRAMMY performance schedule. They join Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, and Billie Eilish, who were previously revealed. A statement posted on the Grammys website on Monday stated that the 2024 Grammy Awards will broadcast live on Sunday, February 4, on CBS and Paramount+.
Burna Boy’s inclusion marks the first time an African artist will perform at the prestigious Grammys.
Burna Boy received four nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards: Best African Music Performance (City Boys), Best Global Music Performance (Alone), Best Melodic Rap Performance (Sittin’ On Top Of The World), and Best Global Music Album (I Told Them).
The 32-year-old won the 2021 63rd Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony for Best Global Music Album for Twice As Tall.
This news has met Burna Boy’s fans and social media users with many reactions.
