A tragedy struck Ilorin, Kwara State, on Sunday when three siblings of the same parents died of asphyxia in a car parked in their residential quarters.
The event began at 2 p.m. in Ilorin’s Sango-Kulende quarters when the three youngsters locked themselves in a stalled automobile that their father had borrowed from his sister.
The children’s mother, who had gone out to buy something, returned to discover them trapped inside the car.

She triggered an alarm and forced the car doors open after seeing her children’s footwear outside the parked car.
According to an eyewitness, the three children were hurried to the Olutayo Clinic, which is fairly close to their home, for medical assistance.
“The medical director, Dr. Adeyemo, however, ordered that they be brought to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital in Ilorin, where they were pronounced dead.
“The three siblings were later taken to a Muslim cemetery for burial according to Islamic rites,” a source said.
