Two people have been caught and handed over to police in Oyo Town for allegedly having carnal knowledge of a 15-year-old girl at Ibrahim Chatta’s Film Village.
The senior secondary school (SS2) student (names omitted) had arrived at the Film Village in Oyo after 40-year-old Ayoola Bankole, an Ondo indigene who lives in Oyo, acquired her mother and grandmother’s permission to appear in a movie production at the venue.
Clips of audio and video recordings of the victim’s account of how Bankole had previously given her an alcoholic drink at a different location in Oyo and then lured her into a strange “rehearsal” in which she was hanged from the neck to the ceiling and the suspect removed stools from under her legs in what could pass for a suicide attempt.
However, upon arrival at the Film Village, the victim stated that she was lodged in the same hotel room with Bankole, who later sought to sexually exploit her at night, but she rebuffed his advances.
The following day, she approached 35-year-old Supo Kosemani, an Ibadan resident who was also at the spot, to seek sanctuary and protection against the rape attempts by Bankole the night earlier.
Although Kosemani, with whom she had been seen throughout the day, had promised her her safety, the same man subsequently approached the victim in the room, bolted the door behind her, and raped her on March 10, 2024.
An inquiry by a member of the team who witnessed the victim crying resulted in the situation being reported to their head, who brought medical personnel on site to evaluate her and determine that she had severe injuries to her private parts and neck from both events.

Furthermore, the victim was spotted bleeding from the lips, unable to swallow, and with a bloody eye, as well as symptoms from physical and psychological trauma.
She was then taken to the Oyo State General Hospital for a medical checkup and treatment, where additional examinations and tests were performed on her, and a medical report was provided to the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) in charge of the case at Ojogbondu Police Station in Oyo.
The matter has been transferred to the Oyo State Police Command headquarters in Iyaganku, Ibadan, the state capital, where the suspects are being imprisoned and will be charged in court on Monday, March 18, 2024.
Hon. Rahaman Olorunpoto, a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Oyo East/West, said that the situation had been referred to Dr. Comfort Olajide, Chairman of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Inclusion.
Olorunpoto, who also chairs the House Committee on Public Accounts, promised to bring the incident to the notice of the state’s First Lady, Engr. (Mrs.) Taminomini Makinde, in order to help the victim receive whatever assistance she needed.
The girl verified that Ibrahim Chatta was present on the day of the incident and had spoken with her mother.
She described how the famous actor voiced his disgust with what happened and promised to work with the appropriate parties to develop safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
