The minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, said the administration would continue to support the development and maintenance of the National Christian Centre (NCC) and the National Mosque, because the two institutions are national assets located in the nation’s capital.
Wike, who made the pledge when he received leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), in his office in Abuja on Wednesday, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, also charged religious leaders in the country to always pray for leaders in Nigeria.
He told the visiting religious leaders that this is not the time to criticise, but to join hands to move the country forward, noting that religious leaders are very important for the development of the country.
The FCT minister noted that God has already chosen a leader for Nigeria, which Nigerians must support to succeed and work for the progress of the country, adding that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown the political will to take decisions that would improve the lives of Nigerians.
“There must be a country before we talk of working together. The existence of Nigeria as a country is key. Pray for the leadership of the country and pray for the leaders that have emerged.” he added.
Speaking earlier, the president of CAN, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, has declared support for the administration of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Okoh also stated that the association would continue to work for the peaceful co-existence of all Nigerians, irrespective of affiliations.
He also appealed to the FCT administration to assist in the completion and maintenance of ongoing projects at the National Christian Centre (NCC).
