An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court has sentenced a Lagos bishop, Feyi Daniels, to life imprisonment for raping his 23-year-old assistant (name withheld).
Justice Rahman Oshodi also sentenced Daniels, the Bishop of I Reign Christian Ministry, Lagos, to three years in prison for sexually assaulting a 19-year-old member of the church (count three of the four-count charge).
The judge held that the cleric should spend the rest of his life at the Kirikiri custodial facility in Lagos.
According to Oshodi, the prosecution proved the elements of the two offenses.
He claims that Feyi Daniels is dishonest and unconcerned with the truth.
On the other hand, the judge dismissed the second count of the charge, which concerned the rape of another church member (name withheld), and found him not guilty.
According to Oshodi, there was a component of the church member’s permission.
In addition, the judge dismissed the fourth allegation of the complaint, which involved an alleged attempt to rape a church member, and found Daniels not guilty.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Daniels was charged with four revised counts that included attempted rape, sexual assault, and rape.
Section 260(2) of Lagos State’s 2015 Criminal Law prohibits rape.
