Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party‘s (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has declared that he is not eager to become Nigeria’s president but rather wants the country to function.
Obi spoke after receiving his award for LEADERSHIP Politician of the Year 2023 at the annual LEADERSHIP Conference and Awards in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to the LP presidential candidate, it was a shame for Ukraine, a war-torn country, to send grain to Nigeria when Niger State could feed the entire continent.
“I’d like to thank the Leadership Newspaper for organizing this occasion and presenting the prize. Everyone has heard from the keynote speaker.

“I thank Almighty God for this prize. “I am committed to giving my all for the country if given the opportunity.” “I am not desperate to be president; I am desperate to make Nigeria work,” Obi said, adding that young Nigerians should be productive in order to eradicate poverty and crime.
“We have no cause to be impoverished. Poverty should never be a part of our existence, especially in the North,” Obi stated, adding that Nigeria has over 7,442,000 square meters of land to feed Africa.
“Ukraine has no reason to give us grain.” With more than 73,000 square meters of land, Niger State can feed Nigeria and Africa.
“The two largest states in the North-East, Borno (with over 70,000 square meters of land) and Taraba, are four times the size of Belgium, which exports food. There is so much we can accomplish in this country if we have the correct leadership.
“The more you remove people out of poverty, the more you have fewer criminals,” he said.
